What is the course about?

Being economically, environmentally and socially sustainable has become one of the biggest challenges for agri-businesses across the word. Businesses that rise to these challenges by implementing sustainable practices are able to become more profitable and resilient.

This is an introductory course with the following objectives:

  1. To help people working in agriculture to better understand what being sustainable means in terms of daily practices.
  2. To help people to better understand how improving their day-to-day practices can result in more sustainable, profitable and resilient farms and agri-businesses.

What does the course consist of?

Module 1: What do we mean by sustainability?

Module 2: How are sustainable practices linked to productivity and profitability?

Module 3: Agrochemicals and sustainability

Module 4: Water and sustainability

Module 5: Worker wellness and sustainability

Module 6: Putting practical steps in place to support sustainable practices

Who should take the course? 

On the farm: The course is designed for a wide range of people including: senior managers, junior managers and supervisors. 

Beyond the farm: There are many stakeholders who would gain from a better understanding of how sustainability can be applied on a farm. This includes people working in import and export companies and students of agriculture and business who will be the sustainability leaders of the future.

What is the total time to complete the course? 

The course takes approximately four hours to complete.

How am I assessed? 

At the end of each module there is a quiz which you have to pass to qualify for a Certificate of Completion. You will receive this after you have completed all the modules.

How much time do I have to finish the course? 

You have 6 months to complete the course. You can work in your own time and at your own pace during this time.

Do I have to take the full course? 

No, you can register for individual modules. We would recommend that you do the full course as there are links between the modules. But if you are very short of time, just want to focus on one or two specific topics, or want to try a ‘taster’ before committing to the full course then you can feel free to purchase individual modules.
